These terms are an agreement between you and Moves (“we,” “us”). By creating an account or using Moves, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Moves.
Moves shows how busy cafés, restaurants, bars and other spots are right now, based on ratings from people who are there. Ratings are short (how busy, how long the line is, how loud) and can include a short note.
Everything on Moves comes from other people and can be out of date or wrong. Moves is a guide, not a guarantee. Don’t rely on it for anything where your safety or money is at stake.
You must be at least 13 years old. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. You need a mobile phone number that can receive text messages, and you may have one account.
By entering your phone number you agree to receive a one-time sign-in code by SMS. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency depends on how often you sign in. Reply STOP to stop or HELP for help. We don’t send marketing texts.
You must be 18 or older to claim a reward. The app asks you to confirm this the first time you claim.
You’re responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your phone and sign-in codes to yourself.
Only rate a spot you are at, and only describe what it is like at that moment. Moves checks your location when you rate. Faking or spoofing your location is not allowed.
Notes must follow our Community Guidelines. We may hide or remove any rating or note, and limit or suspend accounts, to keep Moves accurate and safe.
Comments, questions and replies you post appear on the spot’s page with their date and without your name, and stay there so later visitors can read them, unless you delete them or they’re hidden or removed. Deleting a comment or reply also deletes the replies under it, including other people’s.
You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, show, combine and use your ratings, notes, comments, questions and replies to run and improve Moves, including after you delete your account (they stay on Moves without your name).
Anyone can comment on a spot’s page, reply to any comment or reply, and vote other people’s up or down. You can also send an urgent question (one a day), which notifies people nearby and people who were just there; it shows in the comments too.
You can track a spot to hear when someone rates it, or to get its status at a time you pick each day, for as long as you choose.
Commenting, asking, answering, tracking and notifications are optional, and you can turn them off at any time in the app or in your phone’s settings.
You earn points as described in the app under “How points work”: for example, 10 points the first time each day you’re first to rate a spot, 3 for your first rating of any other spot that day, 5 for being first to answer an urgent question, 2 for each wifi or amenity answer once someone confirms it, and 20 for you and a friend when they join with your invite code and rate a spot or answer an urgent question.
You can earn at most 20 points a day, and 15 at any one spot, from ratings, answers and amenity answers. Only your first 5 amenity answers a day, and 15 a week, earn points. Invite bonuses don’t count toward the daily limit, but you receive them for at most 5 friends in any 7 days; any more arrive later. Limits only affect points: you can always rate, answer and add information.
Points expire if you go 7 days without using Moves (rating, answering, adding information, claiming a reward, or receiving points); the app shows the date.
Amenity answers should be what you honestly know from being there. Invite codes are for real friends. Inviting yourself, or making accounts to collect points, isn’t allowed.
If you think your points are wrong, tell us in the app. We’ll look into it and let you know; our decision on points is final.
Points have no cash value. They can’t be sold, transferred, combined between accounts or exchanged for money, except through the rewards we offer.
Today’s reward: 100 points for one drink or snack worth up to $10 at a Moves spot (not bars), once every 7 days. Buy it yourself, then send us a photo of the receipt in the app, dated within the last 7 days, with its total. We pay you back the total, up to $10, by Venmo or PayPal, usually within 2 days. You must be 18 or older to claim.
We may check claims and receipts, and we may refuse a claim, take back points, or close an account if we believe points were earned or claimed unfairly (for example, fake ratings, several accounts, or altered receipts).
Spots are not responsible for Moves rewards and don’t sponsor them unless we say so. You’re responsible for any taxes on what you receive. Rewards are void where prohibited.
We may change or end points and rewards. If we end them, we’ll tell you in the app at least 30 days before, so you can use points you’ve earned.
Post false ratings or notes, including to help or hurt a business. Rate or ask on behalf of a business you own or work for.
Use more than one account, share accounts, make accounts to collect points, or use bots, scripts or other automated ways to use Moves.
Harass anyone, post other people’s personal information, or post anything illegal, hateful, sexual, violent or spammy.
Interfere with Moves, get around our limits or security, or copy, scrape or reverse engineer the app.
Spot names and marks belong to their owners. Listing a spot doesn’t mean it works with or endorses Moves. Maps are provided by Apple.
You can delete your account at any time in the app (your account, then Delete account). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. A suspended account can still look around Moves but can’t rate, ask, answer, report or claim rewards.
Moves is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that Moves or anything on it will be accurate, complete, available or error-free.
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim about Moves is limited to $100 or the value of rewards you received from us in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is greater.
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll let you know in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Moves after that, you accept the updated terms.
